The launch of the new Apple iPhone is always a big event that occurs annually, but this could change in a big way according to new reports.
Usually, the company issues a major new model every second year, with a less spectacular one coming in between each big launch.
This will apparently now change to a 3-year cycle according to CNET, which is a drastic difference compared to dropping a new model year on year.
It's said that this might happen because demand for smartphones is slowing, and Apple also suffered this year in its first-ever drop in smartphone sales.
Apple is also adding fewer features to their phones as the years pass, with the new iPhone 7 apparently just having a couple of new additions like a dual camera system and dual speakers.
Customers are suffering from 'phone fatigue', meaning they are less interested in the new models being released as there haven't really been any 'wow' features in recent years to spike their interest.
We'll have to see whether this approach will get Apple customers excited for new iPhones, and see them queuing outside the doors at all hours.
