Last week saw
The Irish Franchise Association launch its first ever Women in Franchising event at The Counter Restaurant on Suffolk Street.
Over 100 professionals gathered at the event, which placed an emphasis on female entrepreneurship in the franchising sector.
Chupi Sweetman, the CEO of Chupi Heirloom Jewellery was the guest-speaker, and attendees included women from a number of Ireland's biggest franchises – Eddie Rockets, DNG Auctioneers, Tax Assist, and Lingotots. What's more, there was also a cross-section of industry professionals from businesses such as Permanent TSB, Worldpay & Just Eat.
Speaking at the event, Caroline Wallace, the director of the Irish Franchise Association and MD of The Zip Yard, said: "I am hugely passionate about encouraging female entrepreneurship in Ireland, specifically in the franchise sector.
"The event is all about bringing women from the franchise space together to highlight and promote the huge contribution they make to the overall franchise community throughout Ireland."
Meanwhile, the Irish Franchise Association's CEO David Killeen said: "It’s super exciting to see the impact that initiatives like this can have on the association, our membership and the overall franchise community at large. The Irish Franchise Association has been in operation since 1983, but last week's event was the first one centred on women in franchising. According to the group, they are the only self-regulatory body within the Irish franchise sector, with a standards based approach to its membership.
