When I moved to Toronto seven years ago I wouldn't have known what brunch was if it slapped me on the face with an avocado on toast.

But soon enough I was introduced to this after breakfast/before lunch meal that involved not as much food as I would have liked and a lot of booze. I can safely say I was as basic bitch as they come; I brunched twice a weekend, sometimes twice in one day if I was seeing two groups of friends. I was a basic brunch bitch, pretty much made of avocado and mimosas. When I moved back to Dublin, I found it tricky to find the best spots that offered all the fixings that were on offer Stateside. I am yet to find a spot that does a real bottomless brunch. The ones that go on and on and on... Where you never get to the bottom of the mimosa.... The dangerous brunches that should only happen once a month, never twice a weekend! I did, however, learn that we do brunch in a better way here in Ireland. Our brunches are less about the booze and more about the delicious food, the laughs with family/friends, the cool new neighbourhood pop-ups. These are brunches that you don't need a pitcher of sticky cocktails to enjoy – the eats and the atmosphere are good enough by themselves. Below, are some of my favourite brunch spots in Dublin to enjoy sober.  

1. Daddy's

Fast becoming my favourite spot for a sober brunch with friends, since opening in December this Rialto cafe has been buzzing. You cannot log on to Instagram on the weekends without seeing Daddy's feature in at least one person's story. My favourite order is the Turkish eggs, and they also do eggs in a cup which are equally as delicious!

2. The Pepperpot

Located in in Powerscourt Town House, The Pepperpot is one of my favourites when I'm not on the booze and I want to indulge in some delicious brunch. Even though it's located in the hustle and bustle of a busy shopping centre, it's still quite cute and has a little cafe feels. The ingredients are top notch, and I've had some of my favourite meals here. The Pepperpot BLT bagel is one of my absolute favourites.

3. Bang Bang

I was only introduced to Bang Bang cafe in Phibsborough a few weeks ago by influencer James Kavanagh. James swears that their brunch burger can cure hangovers. I tried it without the hangover, and it was possibly one of the most fabulous things I have ever tasted. My mouth is even watering now thinking about it.
