Four-year-old Gavin Glynn has sadly passed away this evening following his battle with cancer.
The toddler's brave struggle with the disease had inspired thousands of people across the country to raise the money needed to send him to the US for lifesaving treatment.
However, the Wicklow child's family confirmed tonight that Gavin passed away shortly after 6.30pm.
Gavin had previously been diagnosed with a an extremely rare form of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma and although he had looked likely to make a full recovery following 'miracle' surgery, he suffered a setback in August when doctors in the US discovered several new aggressive tumours.
