For anyone who doesn’t remember, Lily-Mae Morrison from Claregalway, Co. Galway captured the hearts of the nation when a group of musicians joined together to record a version of Tiny Dancer, aiming to raise funds for her treatment.
‘Tiny Dancer – A Song For Lily-Mae' was pipped in the race for the coveted No1 spot by 'X-Factor' winner James Arthur in 2012 – but just 4,000 singles stood between the charity single and the Christmas top spot.
Despite the X-Factor publicity, Lily-Mae’s tribute topped the festive iTunes chart, the funds of which helped pay for her medical treatment abroad.
Lily-Mae was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer that affects just one in 100,000 children in Ireland and has a survival rate of just 30 to 40 percent.
Through years of treatment, and a determined little attitude, Lily-Mae has taken those odds in her stride, and had some pretty fantastic news to share with all those who have helped support her:
