Looks like it may be another case of cold feet for Web Summit co-founder Paddy Cosgrave.
Earlier this week, he pulled out of the infamous
Sharon Ni Bheolain interview last minute (we'd say he's glad he did) and now it looks like he will be a no-show for tomorrow night's
Late Late Show, despite being announced as a guest earlier this week.
Co-founder of the summit Daire Hickey was interviewed by RTE's Sharon Ni Bheolain earlier this week.
Instead, he will attend a dinner for tech company founders, a spokesman for the gathering told the
Independent.
RTE released a statement tonight which read:
"Earlier this week The Late Late Show team contacted Paddy Cosgrave and invited him to appear on Friday night's programme.
"He confirmed in writing at that point that he had accepted the invitation.
"It is Mr Cosgrave's right to decide that he no longer wants to appear on the programme.
"We are disappointed that he has now decided not to appear, however, the spot remains open should he change his mind."
The news comes despite Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy showing his apparent support for Cosgrave following the fallout from RTE's coverage of the web summit.
Ryan said: “They’ve come to Ireland - we’re a nation of wing-clippers.
“Honestly if we see wings spanning out too much, we’ll clip them, and I think they’re suffering from that.
“I think the media need to back off a little bit. I also think the Web Summit guys might need to rein their necks in a little."
