The Lion King themed show has made history!

This year's Late Late Toy Show has made Irish TV history with almost two million viewers tuning in - leaving host Ryan Tubridy "flabbergasted". The show was a massive success as viewers from all over the world raised over €6.6 million for The Toy Show Appeal. The figures mean it is now of the highest-rating TV programmes airing on one channel ever recorded in the country. In addition, over 290,000 watched the show after the live event, on RTE One +1 and the matinee repeat on Saturday. With the amount of iconic moments the show provided us with, it's not hard to see why. "Friday night was an absolute joy to present," said Ryan Tubridy after hearing the amazing news. "It felt like it was about six or seven minutes long, it just went by so fast as such were the joy that the children brought to everyone in Ireland. "We were a country that needed one big magical hug and thanks to the kids all around the country, we got it. "I am flabbergasted by the audience share and I am bowled over by the donations made to The Toy Show Appeal. “I think that every child matters and for one night in a dark year, the sun came out and kindness won and the future looking at those kids is very, very bright. "So here is the start of a hopeful Happy Christmas for everyone in Ireland, especially the children whose future is made a little brighter thanks to the kindness of their fellow citizens.” The show raised much-needed funds for several Irish charities throughout the Toy Show Appeal and Revolut co-founder Vlad Yatsenko followed through on his promise to donate €1.1 million. The show was streamed on the RTE player from more than 150 countries, including Australia and all 50 states of America. Ed Sheeran and the Toy Show Choir performance, along with the brother DJ duo who stole the hearts of the nation were the most-streamed clips online, while Twitter was overrun with posts of hilarious moments and memes throughout the night.
