Worst thing to happen in months, right?

Just kidding, this is but a blip in the crock of crap that has erupted since the Covid-19 pandemic, summer was cancelled, and our lives changed forever. Earlier this year it was confirmed that this summer's instalment of Love Island would, of course, not be airing. How could it? A group of sweaty Brits held up in a foreign villa for an extended period of time kissing and touching and all of those nice things that we're no longer permitted to do anymore? It never would have worked. And now it appears as though 2021's Winter Love Island has fallen to the same fate as producers have confirmed that it will not be airing in January. No South African villa. No Laura Whitmore. No complaining about the fact that these people are getting a tan while we're all over here freezing our holes off in the brisk January air. Shame. "Love Island UK will return bigger and better than ever with an extended run in summer 2021," confirmed a representative to Mail Online.  Well listen, at least that's something to look forward to. Just make sure it's four months long now, okay? Love Island 2020 was officially axed earlier this year due to coronavirus concerns. "We have tried every which way to make Love Island this summer but logistically it's just not possible to produce it in a way that safeguards the wellbeing of everyone involved and that for us is the priority," director of television at ITV, Kevin Lygo, said. There had originally been rumours that the reality TV dating series would be shot in a UK villa to avoid cast and crew members needing to travel abroad. This, of course, did not come to fruition and it appears as though we will simply have to wait a bit longer for our drama-fuelled, reality TV fix. Oh, well. Sure, next year is only a year away.
