The Sister Act musical, with original music by Alan Menken, based on Goldberg’s 1992 film, premiered in Pasadena, CA in a 2006 regional production before its 2009 London premiere. A Broadway production ran from 2011-2012. This news supports a previous statement that the panelist of The View gave about the possibility of making Sister Act 3. During an interview with Good Morning Britain, the Oscar-winner was asked about a potential movie.

"We've been all over Disney begging. They've decided that they're going to go in a different direction with Sister Act. So it won't be Sister Act 3 it will be a brand new rendition of Sister Act, and I guess I'll walk through a scene and that's how they'll say I was part of it," she said.
