Let’s get ready to rumble!

Irish comedian and Republic Of Telly regular Emma Doran has just asked the question on everyone’s lips. In a hard-hitting piece of journalism, she accosts men on the streets of Dublin - the Nutgrove shopping centre to be exact - and asks: “Who would win in a fight between Miriam O’Callaghan and Clare Byrne?” In the red corner, we have Miriam O’Callaghan, mum of eight, broadcasting titan, writer, and owner of the world's fluffiest dog.   In the blue corner we have Claire Byrne, aka the politician slayer, aka proud maintainer of the world’s bounciest blow-dry. [caption id="attachment_307200" align="aligncenter" width="2388"] Via RTE Press[/caption]   In the hilarious video, Emma asks five people who they think would be crowned victorious in a scrap between the two, and it's a close call. In the end Miriam just about pips Claire to the post as the people's champ, with one punter saying he bets she'd be a dirty fighter: "Agh, yeah she'd be straight in there with the elbow." Seeing as the results were so tight, I decided to conduct a little poll myself and asked around the office who they thought would be victorious.   Ciara, our gal on the Her team, is fan-girling hard for Claire, saying: "I reckon Claire Byrne would win in a brawl. She comes across as being emotionally unavailable, like she never feels anything, and I like that." Carl Kinsella, reporter extraordinaire at JOE reckons Miriam: "She'd walk it. She's got like 10 kids and a huge pain threshold" The gals at Her Family echo this sentiment: "Miriam has got it hands down because of her turbo tits and she's nine foot tall. We like her, she's a bionic woman." Finally the graphic team weighed in, confirming the general consensus: "Miriam's a dinger. She'll win because she has like 12 kids." Now, there you have it. Miriam walks it, mostly because people are so in awe of/grossly overestimate her baby making abilities.
