Ani FaNelli appears to have the perfect life, until a secret from her past threatens everything she holds dear.
If you're after a good thriller to curl up with this autumn, then Luckiest Girl Alive might tick that box.
The Netflix film comes courtesy of producer Reece Witherspoon and stars Mila Kunis as Ani FaNelli, who appears to have everything going for her. As the trailer outlines, she is set to become the editor at a glamours New York magazine. She's also about to tie the knot with the man of her dreams in a "lavish but tasteful" ceremony.
Her soon-to-be husband Luke, we learn, comes from money, but that doesn't compare to Ana's own asset, which she simply calls "the edge".
Truly, she really does appear to be, as the film's title suggests, the luckiest girl alive, but as the trailer goes in, it quickly becomes clear that all is not as it seems.
She soon reconnects with a man from her past who has no recollection of who she is. It also seems that, despite the perfect life she lives now, issues from her past continue to disturb her.
Ana, we learn, was involved in a mysterious incident from her high school days, and questions remain unanswered. However, if the truth comes out, it could put her life with Luke in jeopardy. What's more, she's invited to tell her story to the makers of a true crime documentary, which forces her to confront some uncomfortable truths.
"I carried this horrible thing with me alone for years," she says in the trailer. "And it has built up this rage inside me."
Yeah, it's safe to say we're intrigued.
The Luckiest Girl Alive is based on Jessica Knoll's best-selling novel of the same name, and it also stars Connie Britton and Finn Wittrock.
It lands on Netflix on 7 October.
