What could be better of a Friday night than a good girly movie?
If you're not in the pub for the evening and the Late Late lineup isn't doing anything for you, you could do a lot worse than the two romcoms that are on TV tonight.
One is an old favourite, the other a modern classic. You've probably seen at least one of these but nothing wrong with enjoying them again.
Notting Hill
This 1999 film is a cornerstone of genre. An unglamorous bookseller (Hugh Grant at his absolute bumbling best) falls in love when a glamorous film star (a perfect Julia Roberts) comes to town, turning his life upside down.
It's by the king of romcoms Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones's Diary, Love Actually) and is probably worth watching to sing along to Ronan Keating's When You Say Nothing At All - a belter if ever we heard one.
Notting Hill is on Be3 at 9pm.
Bridesmaids
Where could you go wrong? You know the craic - Kristen Wiig's life is a little of track to begin with, but then her best friend gets engaged and it gets a whole lot worse.
Everything about this movie is charming without getting mushy. You'll probably able to say the dialogue out loud along with the film but what harm.
Bridesmaids is on ITV2 at 9pm.
