After news that Designated Survivor had been saved by Netflix, we now know that President Tom Kirkman’s re-election campaign will begin on Friday, June 7 when Season 3 of the beloved drama lands on Netflix. The news about the premiere date comes nearly eight months after the original ABC series was rescued by the streaming giant. As for the news season, Deadline have previously reported that the ten episodes will see President Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) finding himself in new political terrain, campaigning. The new season will dive into the cutthroat world of campaigning and tackle today’s issues of what that entails - smear tactics, debates, “fake news” and the importance of campaign finances. Neal Baer will be the new showrunner for the political thriller - he's the series’ fifth showrunner since its beginning - and Mckenna Grace, Adan Canto, Italia Ricci, Tanner Buchanan, Maggie Q, and Kal Penn are all set to star alongside Sutherland.
