We've been hooked for the last six weeks: to date, the five episodes of Derry Girls have been hilarious and heartwarming at the same time.

And on Thursday evening, the series finale will be broadcast. In advance of the Channel 4 airing, the stars of the show have been chatting to Metro.co.uk. https://twitter.com/CiaranMoy/status/961708014616104960 "The last episode will provide a deeper look at the friendship between school pals Erin, Clare, Orla and Michelle, with an ending that’s surprisingly emotional," the website reports. Talking about the finale, Nicola Coughlan, who plays Clare, revealed: "When we filmed it it was really emotional to film. When I read the last script, I got complete chills when I read the last scene." She added: "It explains the characters a lot more and how the group works together." And Saoirse-Monica Jackson, who plays Erin, said we should expect some absolute tunes too. https://twitter.com/ciarathedoc/status/961707761154318336 She explained: "There’s been brilliant music all the way through it, but there’s been some absolute bangers in the last episode. Episode 1:

It's the early 90s, the first day of school and a terrible start for 16-year-old Erin as she wakes up to find her cousin Orla reading her diary. And Granda Joe announces there's a bomb on the bridge.

Episode 2:

Everyone is really excited when Sister Michael announces the school trip to Paris. Back at the Quinn house Uncle Colm is visiting and the whole family are losing the will to live.

Episode 3:

The girls are tense about a big exam and naturally jump at a dubious opportunity to get out of it, especially as it involves spending time with the beautiful Father Peter.

Episode 4:

Erin is so excited that teenage Katya 'a child of Chernobyl' is coming to stay, but Katya is not exactly grateful to be in Derry. And there's developments in Granda Joe's love life.

Episode 5:

It's the 12th July and the Quinn family are rushing to get out of Derry before the Orange Parades start. Aunt Sarah's tarot cards predict a disaster for this trip and, for once, she might be right.
