It's one of those movies we can watch again and again (and, OK, again) - and we definitely know just about every name by heart.
Really, it's just one of those movies that is 'untouchable' - or, at least, we thought so anyways.
Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra has admitted there are some "very famous people" who are keen to redo The Princess Bride.
Vinciquerra made the confession in an interview with Variety about TV legend Norman Lear renewing his deal with Sony.
Lear's Act III Communications, which was founded in 1986, produced the iconic film - and Vinciquerra admitted that the recent interest in reboots and remakes means we may soon see a new take on The Princess Bride.
He explained:
“We have so many people coming to us saying, ‘We want to remake this show or that show.’ “Very famous people whose names I won’t use, but they want to redo ‘The Princess Bride.’ "Some people want to do animated versions of some of the sitcoms. Not a month goes by when we don’t have an idea coming from some very big name wanting to do things with Norman.”You can read the full interview here.
