For anyone confused by the some of the Minions’ costumes and characters in the first two Despicable Me films, Coffin confirmed that all Minions are male.
When questioned previously on their Minion language, the creators said:
“It’s gibberish. It’s a mixture of all the languages of the world and it’s about finding a particular magical rhythm and melody that makes the nonsense make sense.”
While we’re all for girl power, we’re not sure too many male fans will be impressed with this latest revelation.
The quotes have already caused a backlash on Twitter, with users posting:
‘Minions’ most sexist kids’ movie of the year? http://t.co/Ov2fMMZ3Qv for you @margotmagowan :) #gender #media pic.twitter.com/0i2TkonyD9
