We're used to Simon Cowell being very cutting on The X Factor, but his latest decision was very harsh. The show is in the boot camp stages of the competition and last night saw different groups performing together.
One of those groups included mother and daughter Debye and Hayley Norton, known as the duo act Descendance.
They sang You Spin Me Right Round with four other acts. Simon Cowell delivered his first blow to the group by calling it 'hideous', then he did the unspeakable. He told Descendance that the judges wanted the daughter to progress in the competition and not the mother.
They had suggested the pair split up after the first audition, but Hayley wanted to progress further with her mum. So, last night Simon gave them the same offer again for Hayley to continue alone.
After discussing it backstage, Debye reluctantly said, "She's my baby star, that's what I called her when she was born. She's gonna go forward. I would have always done it, it's just a hard one to swallow."
