Neither Shimon nor any of his "known aliases" are on the app.
Shimon Hayut, who conned numerous women into handing over large amounts of money by pretending to be the son of a diamond merchant, has been officially banned from Tinder.
As depicted in the recent Netflix documentary, The Tinder Swindler, Hayut met three of his victims - Cecilie Fjellhoy, Ayleen Charlotte and Pernilla Sjoholm - on Tinder. He was able to steal money from them by pretending that his safety was in jeopardy and that he couldn't access his own funds.
He also assured them that he would pay them back after he established a credible backstory as the heir to a diamond dynasty, and by treating the women to expensive gifts and trips, which he financed through his scams.
It's understood that he stole up to $10 million through his crimes. He eventually went to prison for fraud, theft and forgery, but was released from prison after five months for "good behaviour". He was also ordered to pay his victims $43,289 and a $5,771 fine.
Shimon met his victims on the popular dating app - hence the name - but now Tinder have issued a statement claiming that he has been officially banned.
The company told Variety on Friday: "We have conducted internal investigations and can confirm Simon Leviev is no longer active on Tinder under any of his known aliases."
Following the release of the Netflix documentary, Hayut claimed that he wanted to share his side of the story, before deleting his Instagram account.
He wrote: "I will share my side of the story in the next few days when I have sorted out the best and most respectful way to tell it, both to the involved parties and myself. Until then, please keep an open mind and heart."
Prior to his deactivation, Hayut had been sharing content that depicted the lavish lifestyle he appeared to be living.
