Finally - we now know why was Sherif Lanre removed from Love Island.

The 20-year-old lost his place on the show after accidentally kicking Molly-Mae in the crotch and calling it a "c**t-punt", he said. But it turns out he had received two warnings from producers over other incidents. Sherif was spoken to for using a racist term and for speaking about rape, he has admitted. In one incident, he referred to fellow Islander Amber as a "lightie".

I told [Joe and Micheal], ‘A lightie like her would be hugely appreciated in London. Boys would be calling her all the time’. “About three hours later I was asked to stay behind. One of the crew told me, ‘You cannot use that term again’. I was like, ‘OK’."

Separately, he used the word 'rape' but "said it in an appropriate way," he revealed. He piped up when one of the other contestants was talking about cracking on with a girl even when she isn't interested. "I was like, ‘Mate, you can’t do that, that’s rape." Again, he was pulled aside and told not to use that word. In his first interview since leaving the Love Island villa, Sherif told The Sun that he'd been hauled out of the villa in the middle of the night and sent packing. It came after several rumours about the reason for his sudden departure, including that he'd masturbated in the house and that he'd refused to join in with chats and group activities. He also reckons that there was a racist undertone to his being removed.

“I was the only black man in the villa and I was kicked out after ten days," he said. “In my opinion, what happened was unconscious racism. “There was, I felt, sexism. I feel I wouldn’t have been given that red card if I was a white woman.”
