RTÉ One is going to broadcast the first ever documentary series that was filmed through Skype. Missing You in a six-part observational documentary series filmed almost entirely using Skype video calls, which makes it the first in the world.
Missing You gives us an insight into the connection between Irish people abroad and how they keep in touch with their family at home. Most of the time it's through video calls on Skype and this is what the series will focus on.
The show captures their stories and witnesses their relationships all through the confines of video calls. Viewers see first hand the intimacy, the honesty, the highs of everyday life, the lows, as well as the complexities of missing home.
It startson RTÉ One on Wednesday, June 7th at 8.30pm.
Speaking about the series, producer Sally Roden has said:
“By using this technology we were able to get incredible access to the lives of our participants who very quickly forgot that they were being recorded and settled into their everyday conversations. It was no holds barred and we were able to capture some amazing stories over the course of the year and in incredibly intimate detail."
