Brendan's role at the helm of RTÉ's Saturday night offering was dramatically cut back in March, when the broadcaster announced that the fifth season of his chat show would be his last. At the time, he did reference upcoming projects with RTÉ.
Ray D'Arcy, who left rival Today FM for RTÉ earlier this year, will present a new show on RTÉ One on Saturday evenings from the autumn.
John Murray said: "It has been a pleasure and a privilege to present the show for the last 5 years. I want to thank everyone who worked on the programme in that period but most of all I want to thank the listeners for their support and for making it all worthwhile."
He added: "I am looking forward to returning in the autumn to a new role with the station."Explore more on these topics:
