Teacher Madame Gazelle responds: "Lovely, Penny."
Penny's mums are then shown at the end of the episode as they arrive at the school to pick up Penny along with all the other parents.
Many viewers of the show took to Twitter to praise the new addition and the decision to add an LGBTQ+ family to the show.
One person said: "PEPPA PIG HAS DONE MORE FOR THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY THAN DREAM WILL EVER."
Another wrote: "An autistic character in Thomas the Tank Engine and a kid with two mums in Peppa Pig ... it's been a good day for representation!"
A third wrote: "THIS is how young children should be taught about inclusion.
"We don't need to talk to them about sexuality. Just show all types of families. They'll understand the rest when it's appropriate."
Thomas & Friends, which also airs on Channel 5, has announced that it will introduce its first ever autistic character who has been created alongside autistic writers and organisations.
Bruno the Brake Car is set to be voiced by nine-year-old autistic actor Elliott Garcia and set to be introduced from September 21st.Explore more on these topics:
