Make it happen @ the Emmys.

Paul Mescal was nominated for an Emmy recently, in case you haven't heard. The Kildare native and recent worldwide sensation has come a long way since Ballyhaunis, and now his incredible acting talents are finally being recognised on a global scale: the Emmys. Mescal is nominated for Best Actor in a Limited Series or a Television Movie for his role as Connell Waldron in Normal People. He's up against some big dogs including Jeremy Irons, Mark Ruffalo, and Hugh Jackman, but according to The Hollywood Reporter's awards columnist Scott Feinberg, Mescal may very well be in with a chance. This is his projected order of finish for Mescal's category: Paul Mescal (Normal People) Jeremy Irons (Watchmen) Mark Ruffalo (I Know This Much Is True) Hugh Jackman (Bad Education) Jeremy Pope (Hollywood) You truly do love to see it. Feinberg's projections aren't based on his own personal preference, but rather on how each actor and show has been performing across other awards, and the history of the Emmys itself. So it does indeed look like Mescal might be in with a good chance of bagging himself the prestigious award. Fair play to him. This comes after the actor said that any Emmy recognition he receives should be shared with his Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones.  "I think it goes without saying that the show depends on both of us, so any recognition for either of the individuals is for both of us," he said. "And I have no doubt that if the shoe was on the other foot, which it so easily could have been, she would do the exact same thing for me." Mescal also added that although he isn't sure what he's going to wear to the (virtual) event yet, the GAA shorts may very well be on the cards. "I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t considered it (wearing the GAA shorts)," he said. "But it might have to be a little more formal than that, unless it’s a proper designer jacket, but who knows."
