An incredible win.

Parasite has made history as the first ever foreign language film to win the Best Performance by a Cast award at the SAG Awards. The South Korean dark comedy thriller picked up the award at last night's ceremony in Los Angeles. It was up against Bombshell, The Irishman, Jojo Rabbit, and Once Upon a Time In Hollywood.  The film, set for release in Ireland next month, follows a poor household trying to get employed by a rich family by posing as people far more skilled than themselves. Parasite has already received widespread critical acclaim across the globe, as well as being nominated for four BAFTAs and six Oscars. It is the first ever South Korean film to be nominated for Best Picture. Director and writer Bong Joon-Ho said that he was "honoured" to win last night's SAG Award. "Although the title is Parasite, I think the story is about coexistence and how we can all live together," he said. "But to be honoured with the best ensemble award, it occurs to me maybe we haven’t created such a bad movie," the actor continued to laughter from the audience. "I am so honoured to receive this award in front of such amazing actors that I admire. I will remember and never forget this beautiful night." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bong later said backstage that he hoped the win would bode well for the upcoming Academy Awards. "In regards to Oscars, who knows what will happen?" he said. "It is true that the momentum is building and we are a part of the awards race, but I think today what is truly important was the cast was acknowledged by peers and that’s my greatest joy." Parasite is set for release in Ireland on February 7.
