The best rom-com of all time? Without a doubt
Romantic comedies never let us down, and one of the best of all time is on television tonight.
There are many classic rom-coms that hold a special place in my heart, but none will ever beat When Harry Met Sally.
The Nora Ephron classic has been beloved since its release in 1989. It is the one movie I never ever tire of, no matter how many times I watch it.
I know the script by heart, including Billy Crystal’s legendary speech at the end of the film. It is the perfect rom-com with one of the strongest casts and most aesthetically pleasing costumes.
When Harry Met Sally is a classic because it feels real and genuine. Ephron created an endearing story that keeps your attention from start to finish, but one that also feels incredibly real too.
The official synopsis reads:
A man and a woman with different attitudes to life meet by chance and develop a close and long-lasting friendship. But over time, a mutual sexual attraction begins to develop and threatens to ruin their relationship - raising the question whether men and women can ever really be just friends.
When Harry Met Sally asks the audience whether men and women can be friends. Starring Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal, the 1989 rom-com airs on BBC 1 tonight at 11.20 pm.
