The DC Comics character Cheetah first made an appearance in the Wonder Woman comics of the 1940s. Since then, a total of four characters have taken on the mantle. The most recent character known as Cheetah is Barbara Minerva, an archaeologist who goes through a cheetah-like transformation after undergoing who is transformed in a cheetah-like being through an ancient African ritual. The first Wonder Woman movie was released in June 2017. It quickly became one of the largest hits of the DC Extended Universe film franchise, among both critics and fans - earning more than $821 million at the box office.
