Nicola Coughlan has admitted that she hasn't seen the final episode of Derry Girls yet. Starring as Clare in the hit series, it came to an end last month after three seasons, and Nicola said she was unsure when she'd eventually watch it as she is "going to cry a lot”. Appearing alongside fellow actresses Florence Pugh, Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot and her Bridgerton co-star Simone Ashley, she made the shocking revelation. Speaking to the PA news agency about the final series of Derry Girls, she said: “You know what, I haven’t watched the finale yet, because I was in LA when it came out. “That day I just cried and cried because it felt like such an ending of an era, it’s been five years of my life. “I don’t know when I’m going to because I know I’m going to cry a lot, so I’m just waiting, but the response to it was insane and amazing.” The Galway native added how important it was that writer Lisa McGee had “tackled” the subject of the 1998 Good Friday Agreement at the end of the series as ther is still “a great deal of misunderstanding” in the UK about it. She said that there are a lot of MPs who have admitted to never reading it and "peace in Northern Ireland is very fragile and precious.' She also noted that while Derry Girls is a comedy, the way the message was infused showed just how important it was because "it’s real people’s lives in a real day to day".
