Indiana Jones fans will be very happy to hear that
Disney have just confirmed a sequel is on the way. Work has begun to bring the popular franchise back to our screens, just under ten years since the last movie,
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Disney Chairman and CEO Robert Iger, confirmed the news with
Bloomberg, while they discussed the hugely successful
Star Wars franchise. Speaking about Disney and the great stories left to be told he said, "With George Lucas's
Star Wars - and
Indiana Jones, by the way, which will be coming - we have more great stories."
Chris Pratt (
Jurrasic Park) has been linked with the lead role, while others have suggested that there can only be one man for the job, Harrison Ford. Steven Spielberg, who directed the original movies recently said that he hoped for a new Indiana Jones movie.
Robert Iger also spoke about 5 more
Star Wars movies that are on the way. Episodes 8 and 9 and also some standalone movies from the franchise. Episode 8 will begin shooting at the end of this month and they already have a Director signed up for Episode 9.
