The character is described as having "a motherly nature and warm sense of humour" - as well as a "wicked, ghoulish streak".
She's also "adept at brewing spite jars against her family's enemies as she is at concocting love potions for the students at Baxter High".
Based on the Archie Comics characters of the same name, the still-untitled project will reimagine the origin story and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a darker coming-of-age story.
Davis previously starred in the original version of The Office. She also is known for featuring as Dianne in Shaun of the Dead and Etta Candy in Wonder Woman.
