We loved him as Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother, but it seems like Neil Patrick Harris' latest role is about to make us adore him even more.
Coming to Netflix this July, romantic comedy show Uncoupled follows the life of Michael (played by Harris), whose 17-year marriage comes crashing down when his husband blindsides him by walking out the door.
Overnight, Michael must confront two of his worst nightmares – losing what he thought was his forever soulmate – and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-40s in New York City.
Sounds like the same-sex Sex & the City style show we have been waiting for our entire lives, really.
Just take a look at the trailer which only dropped on Netflix earlier this week:
Yes, the trailer looks enticingly good – and it really is no wonder when you realise who is behind Uncoupled.
Producing the show is Darren Star, who most recently partnered with Netflix for the very successful Emily in Paris, as well as multiple Emmy winner Jeffrey Richman, known for his work on Modern Family and Frasier.
Both men expressed their excitement about partnering with Netflix for this new series, which is important on a personal level as well:
“We couldn’t hope for a more perfect home for Uncoupled than Netflix. A romantic comedy with a gay leading man; it is a passion project for us that feels both personal and universal.”
The series will have eight episodes for season one, and will be available to stream on Netflix on Friday, July 29th.
