Bob Marley died on the 11th of May 1981 leaving behind him a huge legacy of reggae music and becoming a national hero in his native Jamaica.
Marley to this day is still the biggest selling artist and most widely known performer of reggae music. Influenced by the surrounding culture and political envoirnment, Marley gave a voice to many who did not or could not use it.
