After the band’s announcement earlier this week that their new music was available for pre-order, the album zoomed straight to the number one spot in nearly 70 countries including the USA, the UK, Spain and India.
The new album has also been the subject of more than 1.7 million tweets.
The news comes just days after it was announced that the band had entered this year's Guinness Book of Records for being the ‘First Act to Debut at No. 1 with first three albums’ . This came as a result of the success of Midnight Memories, Up All Night and Take Me Home.
Four will not be released until November 17th.
