Michael's three-year-old son was diagnosed with cancer in November and according to reports, the singer has now pulled out of the hosting gig.
The Sun reported that the 41-year-old told bosses he was no longer able to host the award show.
''He would have put a unique stamp on the night so it’s a real shame, but at the moment his priority is his family,' a source said.
'It was a difficult call but Michael has decided to pull out of hosting the Brit Awards.
'Out of respect for Michael the producers gave him as much time as he needed to make the decision, which they completely understood.''
Michael and his family spent Christmas in California where Noah is receiving treatment rather than at their home in Canada. Though he was able to spend Christmas day out of hospital, Noah is thought to be undergoing four months of chemotherapy in California in a bid to recover from the illness.
