5 years later and we're still wondering.

We waited years for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life and in 2016 we finally got what we had been waiting for. None of us could have known that it would end on the ultimate cliff hander with finally getting her famous four word ending (that she had originally planned for the Gilmore Girls finale in 2007). It was as we all know now those four words were - Rory: Mom? Lorelai: Yeah? Rory: I’m pregnant. Unfortunately what those final words don't reveal is who the father of Rory's baby is as the series end with Rory single but having had a couple of different partners and any of them could the dad. Could it be Paul, her forgotten boyfriend, the guy dressed as a Wookie or on again off again flame Logan? Matt Czuchry, who played Logan Huntzberger in both the original Gilmore Girls series and A Year in the Life, recently revealed that he was told by the show's creator who the father of Rory's baby is. According to Czuchry Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Dan Palladino let him in on the show's big secret, unfortunately for us fans though his lips are sealed;

"they told me who the father of the baby was, and they said, ‘Yeah, you can tell whoever you want.’ And I never have because one, that’s for them to say. Ultimately this is Amy and Dan’s show and it’s Lauren [Graham’s] show and it’s Alexis’ show. It’s not mine. And so, for me, it doesn’t feel like the right place to say who it may or may not be. Also, if we do come back, they may change their minds. So it could become somebody else. Those are the reasons why I’ve never said what they told me on set."

While I'm disappointed that Czuchry isn't letting anything slip, his suggestion that they might want to do another series gives us hope that one day all might be revealed!
