The Last of Us is reportedly being turned into a series for HBO.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin will be working with the network to adapt the hit video game into a TV series. Neil Druckmann, the writer and creative director of the game, is also involved with the project. Carolyn Strauss and Evan Wells, the president of game developer Naught Dog, are set to executive produce. No other details - including casting or a release date - were made available. The 2013 Playstation game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, where Joel - a smuggler - has his life turned upside down when 14-year-old Ellie comes into his life. "Their journey across what remains of the USA will push their humanity – and their will to survive – to the limit," the description for the game continues. The television adaptation would cover what happens in the original game, and may take some details from the sequel - which is set to hit shelves in May. "Neil Druckmann is without question the finest storyteller working in the video game medium, and The Last of Us is his magnum opus," Mazin said in a statement. "Getting a chance to adapt this breathtaking work of art has been a dream of mine for years, and I'm so honoured to do it in partnership with Neil." Druckmann added that from the moment he first sat down with Mazin, he was "equally blown away by his approach to narrative and his love and deep understanding of The Last of Us."  "With Chernobyl, Craig and HBO created a tense, harrowing, emotional masterpiece. I couldn't think of better partners to bring the story of The Last of Us to life as a television show," he continued.
