Congratulations are in order this morning for Irish actress
Jessie Buckley who was among the winners at the Olivier Awards in London last night.
Buckley, who hails from Killarney, Co. Kerry, received the Best Actress in a Musical Award for her performance as Sally Bowles in the revival of Cabaret at the West End.
She was up against Sutton Foster for Anything Goes, Beverley Knight for the Drifters Girl and Stephanie McKeon for Frozen.
Accepting the award, Jessie said: "It's such a huge privilege to be part of this community, which I consider my family. Thank you for welcoming me in all those years ago. This is just so lovely."
Cabaret was indeed the big winner of the night. The musical was nominated for 11 awards, and picked up seven awards in total. As well as Best Actress in a Musical, the show also won Best Musical Revival, Best Actor in a Musical (Eddie Redmayne), Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical (Elliot Levey), Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical (Liza Sadovy), Best Director (Rebecca Frecknall) and Best Sound Design (Nick Lidster).

While accepting his Olivier Award, Redmayne sung Buckley's praises.
He said: "Every night, getting to introduce her singing Cabaret, and then getting to peek through the curtain and watch her roar that track was the stuff that dreams are made of.
"You are one of the greats and thank you for that privilege."
The past few years have seen Buckley achieve tremendous success, not only in the theatre world, but in film as well.
The actress has won acclaim for her performances in Chernobyl (2019), I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020), Fargo (2020) and The Lost Daughter (2021)
In
The Lost Daughter, she portrayed the younger version of Olivia Colman's character Leda, which earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
