Jay-Z rejoined Instagram this week to release the trailer for The Book of Clarence, his only one post on the platform so far. The hip-hop mogul produces and will have his music featured in the Biblical Epic, which is set to hit big screens early next year. The Jeymes Samuel-directed movie stars LaKeith Stanfield (Get Out) as Clarence, who is a Jerusalem native in A.D. 33 and is described as a man who is 'streetwise but down-on-his-luck.' "I’m not a man without faults,” Stanfield can be heard saying in the trailer. “I’ve played the cards that I was dealt." Clarence embarks on a misguided attempt to capitalise on the rise of celebrity and influence of the Messiah for his own personal gain. However, the journey redirects him on an exploration of faith and an unexpected path. The movie also stars big names such as Omar Sy (X-Men: Days of Future Past), James McAvoy (Split), RJ Cycler (I'm Dying Up Here), Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), David Oyelowo (Selma), Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things), Alfre Woodard (12 Years a Slave), and Anna Diop (Us), as well as many more. This isn't the first time the Empire State of Mind rapper has appeared on Instagram to promote a film. In his first 24 hours back online this time around, he has a growing following of 128,000 and only follows one back: Queen B, of course.
