HBO president of programming Casey Bloys told Deadline that the series is currently looking set for a 2022 debut.
"My guess is sometime in 2022," he said, as he explained that it was still too early to get specific about a premiere date. Although, he did note that George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal are starting writing the project.
The Targaryen-based spinoff was one of four remaining possible Game of Thrones spinoffs which had been said to be in the works. However, the others are currently on hold - as Bloys said getting House of the Dragon on-air would be "the number one priority."
“For me for right now, I think getting House of the Dragon on the air will be the number one priority,” he said. “There are no other blinking green lights or anything like that. Sometime down the road who knows, but there are no immediate plans. We are all focusing on House of the Dragon.”Explore more on these topics:
