It’s a BIG one for the city.

The jazz weekend is probably my favourite weekend of the year. There’s such a buzz in the city, everyone’s in good form and there’s some deadly acts on…what more could you want? This year marks the 41^st Guinness Cork Jazz Festival and with a new festival director, Sinéad Dunphy at its helm, the notable event has gotten a serious refresh. Some world-class jazz musicians like Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, The Blind Boys of Alabama and Billy Cobham are set to play in various venues across the city. There’s also a plethora of other music genres represented this weekend, not to mention a mini food festival AND a dog-friendly mulled wine event (heaven really is a place on earth). Here are five things not to be missed: Night Market at Triskel Segway nicely into the weekend with a guaranteed relaxing evening on in Triskel tonight. Dogs are allowed and you can grab your first mulled wine of the season. Glorious. Amy Winehouse's Frank Album Show, Dali. Cork native, Briony O'Toole, is the soulful voice behind this Amy Winehouse tribute gig which celebrates the 15th anniversary of the late musician's Frank album. Hosted in one of Cork's most unique venues, Dali (formerly The Pav), Briony takes to the stage with a ten-piece band this Sunday. This is certainly one not to be missed. Tickets cost €16.54 and are available here. Talos live at the Opera House. The hauntingly beautiful, unique sound that is Talos comes to the Opera House on Sunday 28 October for their biggest hometown show to date. Previously Talos' live show in St Lukes, now available to listen to on Spotify, was a huge success so the Opera House gig should be unreal. Tickets are €25. The Jazz Bites Food Fair, Emmet Place. Because we'll need to refuel somewhere... Jenny Greene and Special Guests, Cork Opera House. RTÉ 2FM DJ, Jenny Greene has added an extra date on Monday 29 October having sold out her Sunday night gig. She is known for creating a great atmosphere and the Halloween theme of this event makes it extra special. Supporting her is renowned Cork house DJ and producer, Marq Walsh (also known as QuestionmarQ) who will take to the stage alongside Killian Pettit. Tickets cost €21. Happy weekend all.
