Forget your plans tonight because we have some new ones for you and they involve Paul Mescal.

Tonight is the night that one of this year's breakthrough actors, Paul Mescal, hits our screens once again and we can't wait. We're not sure he'll be sporting his famous GAA shorts but he does speak a little Irish and that works for us. It's been a few months since the Irish man has graced our screens as Connell in Normal People, the BBC drama which had everyone talking and set pulses racing. This new series is a little different. It's called The Deceived and it starts tonight on Virgin Media One, it was written by Lisa McGee, the woman behind Derry Girls, and her husband Tobias Beer. McGee was full of compliments about Paul when asked by the Examiner. “He's such a good actor, it feels like some people were born for it," she said. "He was supposed to be a movie star. He's just incredible.”

Here's everything you need to know about the new series. What's the series about? The Deceived is a four part thriller that tells the story of a student who falls in love with her married lecturer. Their affair leads to a tragic death which has the student rethinking her actions - and her future. It was also all filmed in Ireland, which is always lovely to hear. Who stars in the new series? The Deceived stars Belgravia's Emily Reid as Ophelia, The Fall's Emmett J. Scanlan as Dr. Michael Callaghan, Normal People's Paul Mescal as Sean McKeough and Versailles star Catherine Walker will portray Michael's wife Rosin. Two Derry Girls stars Ian McElhinney and Louisa Harland also feature in the series. Where can you watch the new series? The Deceived airs on Virgin Media One tonight at 9pm with two episodes airing back to back. We won't give much more information than that for fear of spoiling the series, so you'll need to tune in for the full story. We will be, anyway.
