All of all the soaps, EastEnders has always prided itself on being the most gritty.
Whilst the likes of Corrie and Emmerdale hardly shy away from controversial storylines, they perhaps have more of a comedic bent, whereas the goings in Walford are somewhat more brutal, misery-laden and sometimes even distressing.
That said, all soaps work within certain parameters. Shown during prime-time television slots and therefore prior to the watershed, they can't afford to be too graphic or adult in nature, seeing as families settle down to watch the daily fare.
But 'Stenders has come under fire of late with some thoroughly salty language that parents watching with their children don't much appreciate. Friday's episode was the final straw for many, as the coarse vocabulary became all too much.
Viewers were shocked to witness Kim swear at Denise in hospital during last night's show. The storyline centred around the possible adoption of a new born baby and a furious Kim called her a sister a 'bitch' before the 9pm watershed. This comes just after Sharon called Phil a ‘stupid, stupid bastard’ in a previous episode.
As you can see below, many were thoroughly unimpressed...

But not everyone agrees. This lot think those complaining about the recent language need to grow up...
