"The last time I did a garden..."

Dermot Bannon got quite emotional during last night's episode of Room To Improve as he remembered his late father. The TV architect was in the middle of renovating his own home for an RTÉ special when he came into difficulty with the budget, his sense of space, and of course, the garden. Chatting to his brother Podge in last night's episode, he began tearing up while remembering his late father - who was still around the last time he worked on his own outdoor area. "You don’t know how much it means to have you guys with me here today," he said, visibly emotional. "It’s really nice to have family around. Because the last time I did a garden, my dad was here. "So it’s just lovely that you guys are here with me." However, it wasn't all tears and thoughtfulness last night as Dermot finished up his Drumcondra home. Thankfully, Podge was also there to lighten the mood a bit, as he discussed his brother's childhood and his seemingly odd penchant for buildings as a youth. https://www.instagram.com/p/B7N-jOLn_wJ/?utm_source=ig_embed "We thought there was something wrong with him," he joked, as he recalled Dermot staring into people's houses when he was a child. As it turns out though, staring into people's houses may have done him a load of good, because Dermot's home at the end of the episode turned out just as divine as everyone expected it to.
