For the uninitiated, trypophobia is "a phobia of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps". Typical examples of things that set off trypophobes are things like barnacles, lotus pods, fern leaves - plenty of naturally occurring things that also happen to be incredibly freaky, if you have trypophobia. The marketing campaign for the latest series of American Horror Story has played on this fear, creating a series of super-disturbing images to promote the new season of the show, American Horror Story: Cult.
