A friend is someone who knows all about you and loves you anyway.

Ah yes, our friends who've stuck by us through hard times, laughed with us in good times, and laughed at us in those times we've made complete fools out of ourselves. It's safe to say that we are missing them a LOT right now. We've been organising several video chats a week to try and get those buddy hours in but, really, it's just not the same. We miss our coffees and chats, our drinks with besties, and our movie nights with the gals. So we're counting down the days until it's all safe to see our favourite people again. Until then, though, we have managed to get a taster of our movie nights with Netflix Party - learn how to use it here. We like to pair it with a video call so that we can chat and watch as we normally would and it's almost like our mates are right there with us. We've been craving another Netflix Party night and we thought - what movies suit better than ones containing some great friendships? So we went searching and we've put together a list of movies available on Netflix that will really make you appreciate your friends even when they're far away and, yes, will make you miss them a hell of a lot more. Why do we do this to ourselves?

1. The Breakfast Club

The ultimate teen friendship movie. John Hughes's classic comedy-drama about a group of kids in detention shows that even the biggest misfits can become friends in the most unlikely times. A feel-good movie every time.

2. Superbad

In this hilarious coming-of-age film, Seth, Evan and Fogell get one more chance before graduation to join the cool kids at a party. But only if they bring the booze. This quest for alcohol ends up being the ultimate test of friendship as the night spins wildly out of control. We McLove it.

3. Pitch Perfect

What better way to cement a friendship than through acapella sing-offs? Even Beca, who's determined to maintain her tough facade so she can get through the year in college and go pursue her dream to be a DJ, is eventually worn down by her instrumentless-singing teammates. A more in-tune friendship group we have never seen.

4. The Perks of Being a Wallflower

This coming-of-age drama by Stephen Chbosky follows Charlie as he narrates his life in a series of letters to an unnamed friend. As the movie progresses, we see Charlie's growth as he gains his own group of friends in real life and deals with the drama that comes with that. It's funny, heartwarming, heartbreaking, and perfect for a group movie night.

5. Blades of Glory

Will Ferrell and Jon Heder star as rival figure skaters who both end up getting banned from the world of competitive solo figure-skating. They need to make a choice: do they turn and leave their beloved sport behind or do they try and put their differences behind them to team up for a legendary comeback?

6. Going in Style

Zach Braff's remake of the 1979 film is brilliantly witty and enjoyable. A trio of senior citizens and lifelong friends construct a plan to rob a bank when their pensions are cancelled. Not the greatest role models, perhaps, but it will still make you grateful that you've got a bunch of lifelong friends ready to stick by you through anything.

7. Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Yes, we're including another John Hughes movie because, honestly, no one writes friendships and teen movies like he did. We're still not sure how he took the simple concept of three friends skipping school and made it one of the greatest teen movies of all time but he did. An absolute must-watch.

8. The Kissing Booth

This rom-com about friends-since-birth Elle and Lee is one to watch with your best friend. It's a unique rom-com in that the two main characters are friends and actually don't want to get together, which we love. That means that it's able to tackle the fights and jealousies that come with a normal friendship without simply putting them down to an underlying secret romance between the two.

9. The Two Popes

For anyone who hasn't seen this movie, it may seem out of place on this list. However, even for the most non-religious of people, this movie is definitely one to try. The film focuses on the true story of the surprising friendship formed between Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis. A heartfelt and witty film.

10. The Young Offenders

Conor and Jack from Cork are the best of friends and do everything together. After a bale of cocaine falls overboard during a police ship seizure, the pair decides that's their chance to make it big and travel across Cork in search of it. If you're looking for laughs, this one is hilarious right the way through.
