The Saved by the Bell star passed away earlier this week.

Last month it was revealed that Dustin Diamond, most known for his role as Samuel Screech Powers on Saved by the Bell, had been diagnosed with cancer. Shockenly, only a few short weeks after his diagnosis those close to Diamond announced that he had sadly passed away at the age of only 44. Last year Saved by the Bell returned with a new spin on the show, seeing characters such as Zach, AC, Jessie and Kelly now as the adults helping to guide a new batch of students through Bayside High. Although Diamond was not one of the original main cast to feature in the new series, given how well loved his character was and that the other leads play his childhood best friends, it does make me wonder if the new incarnation of the series will play homage to the late actor. Slater.[/caption] Other series that returned after a long hiatus have paid tribute to cast members who sadly are no longer with us. Probably one of the most heart wrenching examples was when Gilmore Girls returned with A Year In The Life and held a funeral in the show for the late Edward Herrmann who played Ricard Gilmore from 2000 to 2007. Similarly, Riverdale changed its plot in 2019 to include the passing of Fred Andrews after Luke Perry died suddenly of a stroke. "Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dustin Diamond, a true comedic genius. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Looking back at our time working together, I will miss those raw, brilliant sparks that only he was able to produce. A pie in your face, my comrade."

It would make sense for the new spinoff show to do the same.
