Supergirl's Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood are expecting their first child.

The couple confirmed the news with adorable Instagram statements on Wednesday evening. "A non-canine child is coming to our family very soon," Melissa wrote, alongside a photo of the two of them and their two dogs. The picture also showed her holding up a small blue jumper. "@christophrwood has always been an old dad by nature but now he’s going to be a real one!" Chris, meanwhile, shared the same photos on his own account - adding that while the lead picture itself was a joke, "the news is real." The couple first met on the set of Supergirl, where Melissa plays the lead character and Chris played Mon-El from 2016 until 2018. Last February, they announced that they had gotten engaged - before tying the knot a few months later. "It was a beautiful setting for a wedding very peaceful and quiet," an insider told E! of the wedding, which is said to have taken place at a private estate in California. "The vows were brief and lasted about 15 minutes. There was lots of cheering and applause as it ended." The source said that the reception which followed the ceremony was held in a grove of trees nearby, with long tables set up for all of the guests. "There were lots of glowing candles and lights strung above. The food was served family style and everyone passed the dishes back and forth," they continued. "It looked like an elegant outdoor dinner party. There was a lot of laughter and happiness."
