Strictly’s Seann Walsh says behaviour towards ex Rebecca Humphries was ‘form of abuse’

Seann Walsh has finally apologised to his ex-girlfriend Rebecca Humphries as he addressed his Strictly Come Dancing scandal for the first time.

The comedian was spotted kissing Katya Jones - his married dance partner - outside of a pub in October last year. Wash was in a relationship with Rebecca Humphries at the time. The actress publicly dumped him in a powerful, now-viral statement on her Twitter account, accusing her ex of lying and gaslighting her during their five year relationship. Walsh is set to appear on the Jonathan Ross Show this weekend, where he will address the scandal for the first time, according to Metro. During the interview, he said that he will "always be sorry" about what happened, and that he hopes Rebecca can "forgive" him at some point. He said:

"Obviously I was stupid and I was selfish and I was hurtful to someone that I cared about and someone that I respected, and I still care about and still respect.

"I will always be sorry about what I did. I think when it all blew up, I don’t think I reacted in the correct manner. I didn’t know what to do, it was huge. It has been some time since then, I have had a lot of time to look at my actions, look at my behaviour and take responsibility as well.

"I think when you have gone through something like that, you end up thinking in cliches, like, 'If I could go back in time, I’d behave differently and treat her differently', but unfortunately all I can be is as sorry as I am and as regretful as I am.

"The thing is, especially with how public it was, if you behave the way I did privately, that is inexcusable enough but for it to go so public, that was all my fault."

The comedian spoke about Rebecca's social media statement, where she recalled how he reacted "aggressively" when she confronted him about the kiss. He continued:

"I think that when I first saw that statement it was so huge and you go through a mixture of emotions and I didn’t really know how to react. But I think with the time that I’ve had, that actually she is right, I think everything she said in that statement is right.

"At first it's denial, initially you look at that and you go, 'No absolutely not'. But with time, someone that you cared about has written that about you and posted that and I think that actually, yes she was right what she said.

"And I think if you lie and cheat on the person that you’re meant to care for and be in a relationship with, then that is a form of abuse, of course it is. All I can be is as sorry as I am. I hope one day that she’ll forgive me."
