People think The Simpsons has done it again.
The Simpsons has become famous for some of its eerie ‘predictions’ over the years, and people are convinced that the show has done it again, by foreshadowing the missing Titanic submersible.
A massive search and rescue operation is underway in the mid-Atlantic after the OceanGate tourist vessel, the Titan, went missing during a dive to the Titanic shipwreck with five people aboard.
British billionaire Hamish Harding – who has previously travelled on the Challenger Deep to the bottom of the ocean and on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin into space – is on the submarine, as is French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, OceanGate founder Stockton Rush, along with Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman.
In an uncanny coincidence, The Simpsons aired an episode back in 2006 which has several parallels with current events.
Originally airing as part of the cartoon’s 17
th season, the episode sees Homer Simpson undertake an intrepid adventure as he tries to uncover the sunken treasure ship, the Piso Mojado.
Along with searching a shipwreck, Homer is in a small submersible just like OceanGate’s Titan, although with a few more bells and whistles.

Homer is joined by a man whom he believes is his biological father named Mason Fairbanks, another spooky parallel with Titan which has father and son Shahzada Dawood and Suleman Dawood on board.
After retrieving the treasure, the pair eventually becoming separated, and Homer gets trapped among the wreckage, before warning lights tell him oxygen is running low.

One of the theories around what has happened to Titan is that it has become trapped among the Titanic wreck.
The U.S. Coast Guard has said it expects the missing submersible’s oxygen supply to run out at 7.08am US eastern time, 12.08pm GMT.
And experts have given grim predictions over
A huge operation is underway for the missing submersible which vanished in the Atlantic ocean, 1,448km from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, on Monday (June 20).
The search area is reportedly been expanded to 14,000 square miles.
The trip, which is thought to cost £195,000 per head, launched at 4am Sunday. Communications disappeared one hour and 45 minutes into the descent to the wreck site – which sits about 3,800m (12,500ft) below sea level at the bottom of the ocean around 370 miles off the coast of Newfoundland but in US waters.
The submersible is just 6.7m (22ft) long and has dimensions of 263 inches x 110 inches x 98 inches, around the same as a minivan. It is impossible for passengers to escape from, as 17 bolts are applied from the outside that have to be removed by an external crew.
The expedition was OceanGate’s third annual voyage to chronicle the deterioration of the iconic ocean liner that struck an iceberg and sank in 1912.
