The Queen has reportedly banned Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from using the Sussex Royal brand after their step back from the royal family.

The Sussexes are thought to have spent thousands of pounds developing the Sussex Royal brand, which included setting up a website and trying to register it as a trademark around the world. They are also said to have started setting up Sussex Royal, The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a new charitable organisation. However, according to the Daily Mail, the couple have been told they need to "rebrand" after making the decision to step back as senior royals. The Queen and other senior royal officials are thought to have believed it's "no longer tenable" for Meghan and Harry to continue to use the word royal An insider told PEOPLE that the discussions were "still ongoing" as to whether the couple will use the word royal. “As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are stepping back as senior members of the royal family and will work towards financial independence, use of the word ‘royal’, in this context needed to be reviewed. Discussions are still ongoing,” they said. “As part of the process to transition the Duke and Duchess of Sussex into their new chapter, planning has been well underway around the launch of their new nonprofit organization. Details will be shared in due course." It comes a little more than a month after Meghan and Harry announced their decision to step back as senior members of the royal family. “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” they said in a statement on their Instagram account.
