With the 25th James Bond movie on the horizon - it finally has a title, but still no trailer - all eyes are on who will take up the mantle once Daniel Craig retires the title of 007, as this will reportedly be his final outing in the role. At the time of writing, the bookmakers have James Norton (Happy Valley, Black Mirror: Nosedive) as the favoruite, and he is closely followed Richard Madden, Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, and Aidan Turner. Should you be interested, P.Diddy is down for a 500/1 shot of getting the role, so maybe this particular value system shouldn't be followed to closely. However, when it comes to playing Bond, who better to ask than someone who once filled the suit? Pierce Brosnan played 007 in no-less than four movies (not necessarily the best of the franchise, but almost definitely the best run of Bond songs!), and when recently speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he recommended a big change. "I think we've watched the guys do it for the last 40 years, get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there. I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting." However, he doesn't have too much hope that this is going to happen (and neither do the bookmakers, who don't have a single actress down on the list of odds to next play Bond), and that comes down to the movie's current producers. "I don't think that's going to happen with the Broccolis. I don't think that is going to happen under their watch." However, he is sure that the current cultural climate will call for a bit of switch up with how Bond reacts to and treats women: "The #MeToo movement has been relevant and significant and well needed in our society, so they'll have to address that." Hopefully the addition of Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Killing Eve) as a writer on the script will bring just that up-to-date edge that it needs. Meanwhile, we'll next see Pierce Brosnan playing Will Ferrell's dad in an upcoming movie about the Eurovision Song Contest, which is in with a shout of potentially being even more iconic than playing 007...
